This year was the first ever Country 500 Music Festival- and my first year attending a country music concert.
Country 500 is a three day music festival where the biggest stars in country music perform throughout the entire weekend at the Daytona International Speedway.
While I may not know too much about country music, I was still excited when Toyota reached out and invited me to attend the festival. As you might have figured out from all my blog posts, I'm all about trying out new experiences and adventures.
And attending a country music festival was definitely on the list of something I'd never done before.
With our cowboy boots on and beer in hand, my friend Christine and I were more than ready to enjoy the festival.
Besides the insanely talented music lineup, there were plenty of fun activities to enjoy throughout the day. One of those activities was the RAV4 Cargo Challenge, located inside Toyota's activation space, "Adventure Awaits".
The goal was to fill up the vast cargo area of the RAV with adventure supplies- in under 13 seconds- the fastest time of the day.
We were up for the challenge!
We made sure to take off our boots. We couldn't have them slowing us down!
Our time: 15 seconds.
We politely told the time keeper that his stopwatch was obviously wrong. Surely our stellar performance had to be less than 13 seconds.
Aaron, the time keeper, was so nice (or maybe felt bad for us) and let us attempt to beat the clock again.
Our new time?
We settled with our first time and took our defeat onto the next activity.
After 5 mins, we came to the conclusion that line dancing isn't for uncoordinated rhythmically challenged people like us.
A for effort right?
Although we failed miserably at everything, we still had a blast making a fool out of ourselves.
Isn't that what life's all about? :)
Besides, I'm all for supporting a great cause- even if I look silly during the process.
Toyota partnered again this year with VH1's Save the Music Foundation at Country 500, to raise awareness about music education in schools. Festivalgoers were invited to Toyota's activation space, "Adventure Awaits", to answer the question, "What does music mean to you?"
Music fans wrote on a colored ball, which was then added to a columned Plexiglas frame to contribute to the creation of a mosaic mural. People were encouraged to post a picture to support the program on social media with the hashtag #toyotagiving.
Toyota will donate $30,000 to a public school with music education needs, ensuring that the power of music will continue to influence the community for generations to come.
How amazing is that!
After burning a few calories at the activation space, we grabbed another beer and headed to the main stage to watch the man of the hour, Luke Bryan!
Little Big Town and Lady Antebellum performed before the headliner of the night.
Toyota definitely hooked it up when they gave us VIP wristbands. We were able to get up close and right in front of the artists!
The access came to good use when Luke Bryan stepped on stage. I mean, how else could you admire this handsome man if you're not standing only a few feet away?
The turnout for Country 500 was insane! Hopefully there will be another one next year.
I'll be partnering up again with Toyota this summer for an epic girls roadtrip. I haven't decided the destination yet.
Where should we go? I'm open to suggestions! Leave me a comment below.
Thank you Toyota for a fun Memorial Day weekend!
