2016 Tecla Awards - Presented by Telemundo

Tecla Awards 2016

I attended the first ever TECLA Awards last year in Miami during the Hispanicize 2015 conference.

I remember being mesmerized by the ambiance and energy around me. It was unlike anything I'd ever experienced before.  I watched winner after winner get on stage and accept their award with so much pride and joy - you could sense the passion they had for their craft.

I left that night feeling inspired and thinking to myself  - next year I'm winning one!

Tecla Awards 2015

Fast forward a year later and the TECLA Awards rose to another level.

Bigger and better in every sense!

Named after the Spanish language word for an individual key on a keyboard, the 2nd Annual TECLAS was held this year at ICON Miami nightclub in Miami Beach presented by TELEMUNDO during Hispanicize 2016, the largest U.S. Hispanic marketing, media and entertainment industries event in the nation.

The TECLAs was extra special for me this year. Not only was I a first-time nominee but I also advanced as one of the five finalist vying for the "Best Sponsored Post" award!

And guess what?

I WON!!!

My campaign with Rums of Puerto Rico took the top honor!

This year the Teclas received more than 1,000 nominations, nearly three times more than for the inaugural 2015 competition.

Finalists were determined by a public nominations process and the Tecla Awards Nominations Academy. Winners of the 2016 Tecla Awards were chosen by the Tecla Judges Academy comprised of a blue ribbon panel of leaders shaping the future of U.S. Hispanic social media, entertainment and marketing. The judges included senior brand executives, influencer network leaders, publicists and other experts in the online content development industry.

Immediatley after I won, I was whisked away for pictures and interviews.

Part of my interview with Telemundo is featured on their TECLA Awards 2016 Recap video.

“This is the Golden Age for Latino creators as brands, agencies and media companies themselves recognize that all traditional media paradigms are shifting to online,” said Manny Ruiz, founder and creative director of Hispanicize and the TECLA Awards.

“The 2016 TECLA Awards captures this evolution and will raise the bar for the creators, media and marketing industries that comprise the U.S. Hispanic online community.”

I'm in good company. Check out the other talented winners.

Here are few of my favorites.

Tecla Awards- Joanna Hausmann- La Flama

The special award of the night went to Pope Francis!

Borja Perez, Senior Vice President of Digital and Social Media for NBC Universal Telemundo Enterprises, took the stage to present the first NBC Innovation Award to Pope Francis. Pope Francis was recognized for his work redefining religion on social media and digital platforms, as well as his work connecting technology and art with sports to promote social good.

Last month, executives from Telemundo and Hispanicize presented Pope Francis with the award in person at the Scholas Occurrentes Interreligious Peace Soccer Match press conference at the Vatican.

I would've never imagined winning an award the same night as the Pope! So unreal!

By far, this has been the biggest achievement and recognition I've received for Metanoia Living! I'm excited for the opportunities this award will hopefully bring me.

Not sure how I will top this moment- but if you know, I'm already trying! ;)

Another Great Year of Blogging: Celebrating My 2 Year Anniversay!

Today marks another year of learning, growing and enjoying my little internet home.

When I first started blogging two years ago, I honestly didn't know what I was doing. I just wrote whatever came to mind and shared it.

Fast forward two years later, and I'm still trying to figure it out. It really is all about the journey, not destination with blogging. All the challenges and highlights motivate me to continue to write and pursue this blogging dream of mine.

Thankfully, you've all been part of the crazy ride!

It was extremely hard to choose, but here are my most memorable moments of 2015:

Won Two Awards:

I started and ended the year with an award. It was the first time being nominated for both honors- and to my surprise, won!

Last January, I attended the Forum 15 blogger conference. I learned different strategies to apply for my content creation and made good connections with other bloggers.

At the end of the conference, the winners of the Sunshine Blog Awards were announced from 9 categories. My blog was chosen as the Best "Other" Blog for 2015. Since my blog is lifestyle and covers various topics such as travel, fashion, wellness and everything in between, I didn't fit into just one category, so "other" was chosen.

I also attended IzeaFest- a 3-day interactive event held at Walt Disney World® Resort, where the world’s top brands and creators get to meet and mingle in a collaborative, fun and open setting.

I learned valuable tips on how to grow my online traffic, build my brand, and make money online. A great conference to attend if you're new to blogging.

Not only did I absorb a wealth of knowledge but I also got to meet celebrity keynote speaker, Mario Lopez! If that wasn't awesome enough, I also won a Creators Choice Award for Best Travel Instagram!

Winners were selected by the Izea committee and later announced at the closing party ceremony at Disney.

Attended Hispanicize:

I've been fortunate enough to have attended quite a few conferences last year but nothing, I repeat NOTHING compares to Hispanicize!

Where to even begin describing this conference. In my own words, I'd say it was a "Once In A Lifetime Experience". In Hispanicize's website, it goes something like this: Hispanicize is the iconic, largest annual event for Latino trendsetters and newsmakers in digital content creation, journalism, marketing, entertainment and tech entrepreneurship.

I promise to do a blog post about it soon. So much to recap and share! But trust me, it will be worth the wait. In the meantime, I'll let you in on my three favorite moments of the event.

Getting a private performance by Chino y Nacho (as well as a kiss), meeting the legend himself, Don Francisco, and getting up close and personal with the love of my life, William Levy!!

If you know me personally, you're already fully aware of my obsession with this man. Who knew my passion of blogging would grant me access to so many talented and inspiring individuals! Can't wait to attend again this year.

Brand Ambassador:

2015 was a year filled with many collaborations and partnerships with amazing brands.

During the summer, I was hand-picked by Chipotle Mexican Grill to participate in their new blogger program to spread the word about its food-focused initiatives and promotions in Orlando. Only two bloggers were selected and I was one of them!
As a Chipotle ambassador, I am able to join in select events and promotions in which Chipotle is involved, as well as receive various incentives including free Chipotle food, complimentary group dinners and VIP experiences.

I mean, how cool is that??

Another wonderful opportunity came when Park Avenue Fashion Week selected me as one of their brand ambassadors.

For the first time ever, PAFW implemented the addition of top Orlando influencers to represent the show. Community figures with a strong influence in their city, enthusiasts of the latest fashion trends, and experts in their personal brand standards were chosen.

I was one of the lucky 10 bloggers to take on this prestigious role.

This year marks the 10th Year anniversary for PAFW. I'm excited to see what concept they come up with for the next show.

"Awareness Angel" for Give Kids the World:

I had the privilege of being introduced to Give Kids The World Village about a year ago when I was invited to attend a media lunch with Papa John's Founder, John Schnatter at the village. I saw first hand how this establishment changes so many lives.

Give Kids The World is a non-profit organization that exists to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world to experience a memorable, joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids The World Village.

I am a proud supporter and volunteer of GKTW. As an "awareness angel" I get to help spread exposure and participate in fun activities with other people who share the same mission.

One of those fun activities included baking cookies with the cookie master himself, Wally Amos- known for the worldwide brand, Famous Amos bite size cookies.

If you would like to volunteer at Give Kids the World, please click here.

 Attended AIS Gala:

One of the most special moments of 2015 was getting the opportunity to attend the American Institute for Stuttering's Annual Gala. I was invited as their media guest. It was an honor to cover this event on my blog. Especially since AIS is like my second family. As some of you may recall, back in 2014, I attended a 3 week intensive program at AIS in New York.

The greatest lesson I learned during my time there was to not be ashamed of the fact that I am a person who stutters. That same message was conveyed by all the speakers during the gala, including the night's honoree, Ed Sheeran.

Most people don't even know that Ed stuttered as a child. Or that Emily Blunt, the gala's annual mistress of ceremonies, also had the speech impediment in her younger years.

The ballroom was filled with so many successful well known people that never let their stutter hold them back. Attending the AIS Gala was one of the most inspiring and encouraging nights of my life.

Social Media Ambassador:

Even if you don't follow my blog, I think it's safe to say you saw some of my pleas for votes online. I religiously posted every day all over social media about this Germany contest.

When I initially came across the Germany Tourism's Social Media Ambassador posting on Facebook, I thought it was a scam. Get the most votes and win all expense trip to blog, Tweet, and Instagram your way across Germany? Ya, it seemed too good to be true!

Being the super competitive person that I am, (and of course after researching and reading all the rules), I entered! Within 15 minutes, I was sitting comfortably in first place.

My winning position was safely secured until the last week of the competition. It felt like I was playing musical chairs with the other top 3 finalists. We all kept going up and down in rankings. At times I felt defeated but I kept pushing until the end. When I want something, I'm all in, losing is never an option.

Thankfully in the end I won a spot as a social media ambassador for Germany and got to experience such an incredible two weeks roaming around western Germany.

The German National Tourist Office was so impressed with my work thus far, that they offered me to be part of their short list of brand/country ambassadors. Which means, I'll be returning to Germany again this year!!

When I published my first blog post, I had no expectation or idea on where it would take me.

As I reflect on the past two years, I'm still in awe of all the amazing opportunities and special people it has brought to my life.

I look forward to blogging even more in 2016 and sharing all the exciting projects in the works!

Year 3 here I come!

My Favorite Instagram Accounts

Oh Instagram, how I love you!!

If I had to choose my favorite social media, it would be Instagram hands down! Not only is it visually appealing but it's so easy to use and I find the most inspiration through that platform.

I normally post inspirational quotes, traveling pictures and food- so naturally those are the type of accounts I like to follow. I could easily spend hours just scrolling and daydreaming about all those things!

These are my favorite 10 Instagram accounts that you should definitely check out:

P.S: You can find me here.

1) @WorldWanderlust: Brooke Saward is a 23 year-old Australian Travel Blogger that makes a living roaming around and exploring the world. What's more impressive is that she travels alone and takes the most stunning pictures all by herself!

2) @Thiagomlcorrea: I have no idea who this guy is, but all I know is that he's Brazilian, young and absolutely crazy!! Thanks to his GoPro and Drone, his pictures and videos are unreal! Makes you want to be his friend and go on one of his crazy adventures!

3) @MimiIkonn: I started following Mimi over a year ago and by far she's the most positive, motivating and inspirational account I follow. Not only is her Instagram a dream but her YouTube channel and blog is a must see as well! I had the pleasure of meeting Mimi last month and she's such a sweet soul and someone I look up to. Hopefully one day I will follow in her footsteps!

4) @MotivationWall: The name represents exactly what the account is all about- pure motivation! Motivation for healthy and mindful living. Liz, the girl who runs the page, has such a cute personality, which shines through her posts. If you want to follow a feel good account, then definitely give this one a like!

5) @Marc_Fitt: I don't think I have to explain why I follow this guy. I mean, just look at him!! To be honest, I started following Marc for his chiseled body and good looks, but then I started actually reading his captions under his pictures and I got to see what a remarkable human being he really is. At only 23 years old, he has managed to build a fitness empire that has inspired millions of followers worldwide! Not only is he hot, but he's extremely hard working, driven and is a positive role model for anyone wanting to improve their life. Total package right there- too bad he has a girlfriend... boo!

6) @RachParcell: If you follow blogs, then you already know who Rach Parcell is. She's the girl behind the blog, Pink Peonies and is one of the top and most influential fashion bloggers out there. 7) @RosieLondoner: If you like food, traveling and a witty sense of humor, then Rosie's Instagram account is for you!! She's the funny blogger behind The Londoner- the first blog I ever followed. Her food posts will have you drooling and the trips she takes will have you lusting to travel the world. What more could you ask for? A cute little dog maybe? Well she has one named Custard!! Adorable!

8) @HealthyXJessX: Jessica is a 21 year old yoga teacher that lives in Dubai. Her Instagram is filled with yoga poses, tutorials, and motivation. She recently started learning to do Pole Fitness, so it's fun to see a cool way of getting in shape that involves similar yoga movements. Even if you're not into yoga or fitness, at least you'll be able to appreciate the beautiful backdrops that showcases the beautiful city of Dubai.

9) @ShayM: Shay Mitchell is mostly known for starring in the hit TV show Pretty Little Liars- but I must confess, I've never seen that show. I don't know too much about her but her Instagram is one of the best ones out there. Her account showcases her passion for blogging, traveling and food! Umm, can we be best friends??

10) @ThinkGrowProsper: There are two types of people in this world. People who love inspirational quotes and people who can't stand them. I'm one of those that LOVES reading and being surrounded by uplifting quotes! I believe in the law of attraction and having a positive mentality. If you're like me, then you'll really enjoy this account!

1 Year Blogging Anniversary!

Wow!! I can't believe it's been a year already. It seems like only yesterday I was celebrating my 1 month anniversary, or should I say, bloggiversary!

The past year has been such an incredible journey. Made new connections with fellow bloggers, worked with a couple of brands, and even managed to score an award!

As you can see, I've changed the blog layout again. My mind is always circulating new ideas and ways to improve, so most likely you'll see more changes within the next few months. But I am proud to say that I created the website and new logo myself! Go me!

Even with the couple of breaks I took, it has always been clear in my mind that blogging is what I was meant to do and what I LOVE to do.

Here are some of my blogging highlights from 2014:

Featured in MindBodyGreen: I was beyond excited to see that one of my recipe articles was published in MindBodyGreen. I'm a huge fan and reader of this website and remember thinking how cool it would be to be on there. I put it on my vision board and within three months it happened. Such an amazing feeling!

Contributor for GreenDock: Last year I was asked to be a contributing author for the healthy/holistic living website called GreenDock. It's only a few months old, but I have a feeling it will be as huge as MindBodyGreen in no time. A few of my posts have been featured on there. Take a look!

Highest Views: I know numbers and stats shouldn't be the reason you blog, but it sure is nice to have someone on the other end reading and enjoying your work. It sometimes does feel like we're writing to ourselves, so when I see my views going up, it motivates me to keep on producing more content. My highest monthly views was 22,434 and daily views, 3,162. My goal in 2015 is to be more consistent with my writing and posting at least 2-3/week.

Won an Award: With only six months under my belt, I was awarded Top 3 Local Bloggers from Orlando Magazine's Best of Orlando 2014 edition. This has been by far, the happiest moment in my blogging journey! Hopefully more awards are in my near future.

*Speaking of awards, I was nominated for a Sunshine Blog Award 2015 and it would mean the world to me if you could vote for Metanoia Living. No need to register, just check off my name and submit. Thank you!! Vote here. You can vote with multiple devices, fyi ;)

Interviewed Annie Jaffrey: For my birthday last year, I took a trip to Dubai. While I was there, I had the opportunity to interview YouTuber and Blogger Annie Jaffrey. She was such a sweetheart and gave me great tips, not only for blogging, but for life in general. I always love connecting with positive people like her.

Charity Event: I was asked a couple of months ago to be a guest bartender for the Brides Against Breast Cancer Charity Event. The event featured local "celebrities" and personalities from the Orlando area to help raise funds for families and people with cancer. Such a fun way to give back.

Facebook Page: I started my Facebook page back in February and to this date I have almost 3,000 fans! I'm thrilled on how much it has grown. I love posting inspirational quotes and "behind the scenes" pictures of the blog on there. If you haven't liked the page, go ahead and give it a "like" ;) If you prefer Instagram, I'm on there too! :)

This post is officially my first blog post for 2015 and I can't wait to share more! I'm predicting success not only for my blog, but for you as well. In whatever dream or goal you may have, I know you can make it a reality! Good luck and go for it!

Happy New Year and Happy 1 Year to Metanoia Living!!

The Comparison Game On Social Media

The first thing I do in the morning when I wake up is to reach for my cellphone. (Don't we all?)

Facebook and Instagram gets checked even before getting out of bed. You would think checking the time, weather or email would be better choices, but no, social media trumps them all. At this point, it has become an automatic unconscious routine for me (I know, I'm working on this, don't worry).

Where else can you catch up on the most current events, get the latest celebrity news, find new recipes or fashion ideas, read motivational quotes or see what your friends are up to, all at once?

Social media has revolutionized our way of living and is a great outlet for people to express themselves and find inspiration. Whether you treat it like a hobby, an obsession (for many), or even how you do business, social media has many great benefits.

However, it can also have the total opposite effect and can often lead to jealousy and comparing yourself to others- which are the two quickest ways to kill your ambition, motivation, and make yourself feel bad about yourself.

You know that feeling you get when someone posts about the new project they're launching, that exotic trip they're taking or that trendy new restaurant they're eating in? That feeling of, "They're doing something really cool and I'm not!" That worry of not being as far along as you want to be or the notion that everyone else is ahead of you in that imaginary race that only exist in your mind. All these comparisons strip away from your happiness and only feeds into this social media fantasyland.

Because that's what social media really is. Fantasy.

People filter what they choose to show. For the most part, it's the end result, never the means on how it was achieved, that gets shown.

Even the most confident person falls into the comparison game every once in a while. I do it too. It's natural for us to want and lust over the things we don't have.

So how do we stop these feelings from occurring?

1) Don't Compare Your Beginning to Someone Else's Middle: I have to constantly keep reminding myself of this. I'm in my own journey and at my own pace. An area where I struggle with, is with this whole blogging world. It's easy to get caught up with other bloggers and compare myself with them. They're prettier than me, have better content, a nice fancy camera, have connections, etc. I have to stop and realize that all these successful bloggers have been doing this for years. I just started eight months ago. There's no way I could even begin to put myself in that same category. To be successful takes time and hard work- it's not going to happen overnight. All I can do is keep focusing on myself and the rest will come.

2) Look In The Mirror, That's Your Competition: You know that saying, "The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday"- well, it couldn't be anymore truer. We often waste our time obsessing on what other people are doing that we lose focus on bettering ourselves and achieving our goals. We need to stay focused on what's in front of us instead of checking on everyone else. They're not looking at you and worrying about what you're doing, they're moving ahead. You don't gain anything from comparing yourself and you might even throw yourself off track by doing so. It's self-sabotage and not worth it. Remember, "Winners focus on winning, losers focus on winners".

3) Enjoy Your Own Life Without Comparing It With That Of Another: In order to achieve more in life, you have to appreciate what is in front of you. One of my favorite Oprah quotes is, "Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough". Give yourself the credit you deserve and keep moving forward. Instead of viewing other people as competition and being envious of their life, view them as motivation. If this person could do it, so can you! The fact that they accomplished or attained something that you want, just means it's possible. No one is born with super hero powers or a bigger brain. It all just comes down to how bad you want it. That's it.

4) The Better You Feel About Yourself, The Less You Feel The Need To Show Off: One of the greatest things about social media is that you get the chance to post the fun and exciting things happening in your life. But sometimes the portrayal is not accurate. I used to have a friend that was all about her social media appearance. We couldn't even enjoy a nice simple girl's night in without having to worry about posing for a picture so she could share it on Facebook. She had to constantly post and stage her every move. Very misleading- I know for a fact that her life is not as exciting as she paints it out to be. But I guess that's the whole point? Trying to portray this perfect life- which we all know doesn't exist. We all go through our own struggles, insecurities and not so great days, but remember, those pictures will hardly ever get posted.

The quality of your life is determined by how much you enjoy and appreciate the people and things around you, not by how many followers or likes you receive. And to compare yourself with others that think so, is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

"Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that just looks good on the outside."

Some Photo Fun

I can't begin to describe what I felt yesterday with the re-launching of my blog. It was a mixture of excitement and nervousness all wrapped into one- sprinkled in with a sense of relief that my blog was finally complete. Even though I've been blogging for almost six months now (can you believe it's been that long?) I always seem to hesitate before hitting the "publish" button on each one of my posts. Sharing your work is pretty scary. You never know how it's going to be received.

Luckily, not only was my post well received  but my new blog design was a big hit, with over 400 views! (Not bad for taking a month break).

I had such an immense outpouring of heartwarming praise and love from everybody yesterday, that I went to bed with a huge smile on my face. Thank you, I definitely felt the love!

Everyone kept commenting on how beautiful the pictures were, especially this one:

And I agree. They turned out so nice and added that special touch that my blog needed.

But I have to give the credit to my amazing photographer for making me feel and look pretty.

The one and only....

Dani. My ridiculously talented sister.

Oh, you didn't know she was a photographer? Well, neither did we!

Here's the story behind that one.

Every successful blog has to have at least one professional picture to welcome in their audience. I knew that from the beginning. Which was the main reason why I wasn't a fan of my previous layout. You couldn't tell who the blog belonged to or what it was about. That had to change.

I did my research on photographers around the area and sadly, they were all out of my budget.

So what was plan B?

Do it myself!

I took a class on photography-which let me tell you, was a huge eye opener. I had never heard of shutter speed, aperture -and lord knows what else they talked about- in my life! I left the class feeling more confused than when I first walked in.

Regardless, I decided to go forward with the "do it yourself" plan. But I couldn't do it alone, so I enlisted the aid of my trusty sidekick and BFF.

Now with Dani on board, came the most important (and expensive) part- the camera!

I knew the type of camera I wanted and the lens I needed, so I went to The Lens Depot located here in Orlando and rented the necessary equipment. (If you ever need to rent a camera, I highly recommend them- great customer service!)

Camera and Lens
Camera and Lens

I ended up renting a Canon 60D camera with a 50mm f/1.2L lens- which from what I hear is a pretty good combination, for only $90. Ok, so camera, check!

Next, was hair and makeup.

Thankfully, Dani knows her stuff in this department. She could easily do it professionally if she wanted to. She left me looking like a million bucks- big hair and all!

Now, came another rude awakening for me.

It's not as easy as it looks.

I've never "modeled" before, so trying to look natural and finding the right pose was a challenge.  Add in almost 95 degree weather, and well, let's just say, we had an "interesting" time with this project.

I felt bad for Dani. If you don't know how heavy these professional cameras are, then you're in for a nice surprise if you ever purchase one.

356 pictures later, we captured the four shots needed for the blog. And yes, I know what you're thinking. And yes, it took us that many.

Here are some of the pictures that didn't make it into the blog.

I love this outfit because it's casual enough to wear during the day but dressy enough to wear it at night. Plus, it's a departure from my usual black or t-shirt ensemble.

Similar looks:

We shot all the pictures in Baldwin Park- which is the perfect setting for taking natural scenic pictures. Every area of that community is ideal and offers a different type of atmosphere. Both daytime and nighttime pictures are sure to come out looking fabulous.

Here are a few things I learned during this photo-shoot:

  1. Being a model is no joke. It's tougher than you think. We were only out for three hours and I was exhausted at the end.
  2. Photographers have my utmost respect! Before, I just assumed you would point, shoot, and bam, you would have beautiful pictures. Oh no my friends, it's seriously a talent. They deserve all the credit.
  3. Even though Dani and I aren't professionals, I think we did a decent job. With time, I think we'll get better at it.
  4. I'm blessed with the most amazing sister in the world. Not that I didn't know that before, but everyday she shows me how loving and supportive she is of me. I couldn't have done this without her.

So there you go, a behind the scenes look on what it took to create the final product of the blog. I am so proud of how it turned out. Hopefully this is just the beginning  and many great things are in store for Metanoia Living.

Here's to my pretty new blog!

Happy 1 Month To My Little Blog!

I feel like a proud mama!! I can't believe it's been a month since I first launched Metanoia Living! So far, it has been such a fun and gratifying experience for me. Who would've thought that a little blog could fulfill me this much?

Before starting a blog, I didn't know much about blogging. "How hard could it be?" was my initial thought. Boy, was I wrong! You'd be surprised by the amount of time and work it takes to keep up with a blog... But you know what? I love it! I actually find the whole process enjoyable. It's funny to think that I used to dread writing in school. Now I can't get enough of it! This blog serves as the perfect outlet for me to express myself and write about the things I'm passionate about. Although it's time-consuming, and at times even frustrating, its by far the most rewarding project I've ever taken on.

Metanoia Living is lifestyle blog. It's a glimpse into my life and a true reflection of me. I love sharing new experiences and ways to improve your life. In my opinion, everybody has room for improvement. By no means am I an expert or claim to be. I'm still learning and growing myself. But if this blog can help you in any way... Great! If not, then at least you'll have something to read when you're bored at work (you're welcome).

When I started Metanoia Living, I only expected a handful of people to read it. Perhaps a few views here and there every week. Never would I have imagined that in this short amount of time, my blog would be seen worldwide. Worldwide!!27 countries to be exact! I'm still astonished at the fact that people, other than my family, are actually reading and enjoying my blog!!

I'm overjoyed by all the support and positive response! This motivates me to continue writing and perfecting this new passion of mine. I'm excited to see where this little project takes me.

Here We Go...

So I officially have a blog!

Me, a blog!

Didn't think in a million years I would become a "blogger", or that I would be as excited as I am now in writing my very first post. Then again, my interests and views on life have changed in the past year that starting a blog only seemed fitting.

This leads me to explaining the name of my blog. Metanoia Living.

What exactly does Metanoia mean?

Metanoia is the opposite of paranoia. Instead of being stuck in the state of mind that is filled with fear and anxiety, you're open to growth, transformation and the changing of your thoughts.

This is the journey I'm on now.

Over the past year, I've experienced more growth and awakening than in all of my years combined. For the first time in my life, I am completely happy. Don't get me wrong, I live an incredible life filled with family and friends that genuinely love and support me, but to fully be happy with yourself, is another story.

Making positive changes in my life has truly been a blessing. Self discovery and personal growth was not something I was seeking, but it's true what they say, "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change".

And that's exactly what 2013 was for me. A year of change.

A friend of mine once told me, "It's never too late to improve yourself." And he is right. Every day is a new opportunity to look better. To feel better. To live better.

The main reason I wanted to start this blog was to share with you the changes I've made (and continue to make) in my life to become the best version of myself- sprinkled in with some of my passions and interests.

Hopefully this blog will inspire you to go out and conquer whatever it is you want to achieve or improve on. I'm all about spreading positivity and promoting self-empowerment.

You're the creator of your own life, why not make it a good one!
