Is Microblading Worth It? My Review and Results
The recent trend right now is all about the perfect brows. Thick, beautiful well-shaped brows. I never realized how important they were until I started getting into makeup. Brows frame your face and can make or break any beauty look.
Growing up, I had nice thick eyebrows. But then high school came around and like every teenage girl, I over-plucked mine. Back then, thin eyebrows were in. Unfortunately, I can't grow them out because when I got laser hair removal, I made the mistake of lasering the hair of my already thin brows.
Luckily, there is a solution! Microblading.
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup technique that creates hairlike strokes to fill in sparse or thinning brows using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments. The strokes are drawn to perfectly blend with your own eyebrows.
Before you make the investment, make sure you do your research and go to a reputable establishment. When it comes to beauty, never go cheap!
I got my eyebrows done at Magda's Skincare Clinic and can't say enough good things about my experience! From start to finish, I felt comfortable and appreciate the attention to detail.
My aesthetician, Marina holds a certificate in eyebrow Microblading and specializes in PhiBrows technique. Two important distinctions to look for when choosing the person to perform microblading on your eyebrows.
My first appointment took about 2 hours. In the first 15 minutes, we discussed the desired look I wanted to achieve- which were natural looking brows and an arch to them. My eyebrows were too thin and straight.
After the mini consultation, she numbed my eyebrows and stenciled in what my future eyebrow would look like.
When it comes to eyebrows and her craft, Marina is a perfectionist! Which I greatly appreciated because the process can be scary. After we reached the desired shape and took "before" pictures, it was time to get the microblading!
Since I don't have any tattoos and have ever done anything like this before, I was a bit nervous. But after the first stroke, I felt at ease and confident of the process and Marina.
Tiny incisions are made then the eyebrow is covered with more pigment.
The whole process took about an hour.
For my eyebrows, we did both microblading and shading to give it a more natural look.
BEFORE AND AFTER:
Marina cautioned me that my eyebrows would become darker within the next few days and to not be alarmed because they would gradually fade into a lighter shade.
After the 4-week healing process, this is what my eyebrows look like.
It's important to follow instructions regarding the aftercare of your brows. This will help in achieving the best results and prevent scabbing.

HOW LONG DO YOUR EYEBROWS LAST?
Some skin types can retain ink better than others. Very oily skin types will probably have the most difficult time achieving lasting results because the oils will fade the ink. On average, microblading can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO YOU NEED?
On average, most people need two sessions. One first session then a touch-up session four weeks later. The reason for the touch-up is because depending on your skin type, the skin may push out a bit of ink and in some places, the hair strokes won’t be as saturated. Also, so you can see if there are any minor changes needed after the first session that need to be filled in.
DOES IT HURT?
Everyone's pain tolerance is different. For me, it didn't hurt but I definitely felt a bit of discomfort towards the end when the numbing cream started to wear off. Nothing I couldn't handle though.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

So is Microblading worth it? For me, it was 100% worth it! I feel like my face looks more put together now-even when I'm not wearing any makeup. I've gotten so many compliments about my eyebrows and how natural they look. So happy with the results!
