I've been lucky enough to have seen many Broadway shows in my lifetime. Most of them have been at the stunning Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, Florida.
I always get excited when the Broadway lineup is released for the year. This season, the show I had my heart set on was The Lion King. It's my top 5 Disney movies and a show I've been wanting to see it on Broadway for years.
More than 90 million people around the world have experienced the awe-inspiring artistry, the unforgettable music and the uniquely theatrical storytelling of this Broadway spectacular—one of the most breathtaking and beloved productions ever to grace the stage.
Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, The Lion King brings together one of the most imaginative creative teams on Broadway. Tony Award-winning director Julie Taymor brings to life a story filled with hope and adventure set against an amazing backdrop of stunning visuals. The Lion King also features the extraordinary work of Tony Award-winning choreographer Garth Fagan and some of Broadway’s most recognizable music, crafted by Tony Award-winning artists Elton John and Tim Rice.
From the opening number until the end of the show, you're in for a visual treat! The amount of talent represented on one stage is truly magical and something special to watch live.
Whether you're young or old, this Classic will leave you with so many emotions. Sometimes when a movie is turned into a Broadway show it doesn't live it up the original.
The Lion King not only exceeded my expectations but left me in awe of such artistry.
“A wondrous spectacle of imaginative puppetry, African rhythms, athletic dance and brilliant design. It grabs hold of your imagination from its very first moments.”
— Robert Hurwitt, San Francisco Chronicle
